Paperback. Condición: New. Since tabletop fantasy role-playing games emerged in the 1970s, fantasy gaming has made a unique contribution to popular culture and perceptions of social realities in America and around the world. This contribution is increasingly apparent as the gaming industry has diversified with the addition of collectible strategy games and other innovative products, as well as the recent advancements in videogame technology. This book presents the most current research in fantasy games and examines the cultural and constructionist dimensions of fantasy gaming as a leisure activity. Each chapter investigates some social or behavioral aspect of fantasy gaming and provides insight into the cultural, linguistic, sociological, and psychological impact of games on both the individual and society. Section I discusses the intersection of fantasy and real-world scenarios and how the construction of a fantasy world is dialectically related to the construction of a gamer's social reality. Because the basic premise of fantasy gaming is the assumption of virtual identities, Section II looks at the relationship between gaming and various aspects of identity. The third and final section examines what the personal experiences of gamers can tell us about how humans experience reality. Instructors considering this book for use in a course may request an examination copy here.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - You're winning jobs. So why does it feel like you're losing The phone is ringing. The schedule is packed. By the measures most contractors use to keep score, you're doing everything right. But too often, a long day on the job site ends with detours to driveways for free looks, and then a long night at the kitchen table writing them all up.You built a business. Somewhere along the way it started to feel like you built a treadmill. The problem isn't your work ethic. It's that you're comparable. As long as a customer can line you up against three other contractors and pick by price, nothing you do changes the math. You'll always be just one of four. And one of four is a commodity. The Uncomparable Contractor is how you step off. Written by a working masonry contractor with more than thirty years in the trade, this is not a consultant's theory. It's a field-tested method for independent contractors who are ready to specialize, simplify, set their own price, and stop letting the lowest bidder set it for them.Nine declarations. Three pillars. One decision.SPECIALIZE- I Will Specialize. My expertise is the one thing a customer can't shop by price.- I Will Build a Name. I will become the obvious choice before the first call is made.SIMPLIFY- I Will Qualify Before I Commit. No more driving to jobs that were never a fit for me.- I Will Quote One Flat Price. Fast, certain, no surprises.- I Will Be Selective. Not every customer is my customer.SET YOUR PRICE- I Will Talk About Money Early. I will name my number without wasted time.- I Will Refuse to Work at a Loss. Every job makes money. No exceptions.- I Will Charge More.
