These proceedings - which include papers submitted by scholars from Europe, America and the Far East - offer a broad panorama of the potential of such a complex source with its wealth of implications. They represent a corpus of study and enquiry based on a truly exhaustive and complete range of methods and tools of investigation. Colmando questa lacuna, il presente lavoro ne offre allora un profilo esaustivo che, partendo dalle prime strenne tardo-ottocentesche (Figli del Popolo e Strenna Minima Socialista) e passando attraverso i numeri unici primonovecenteschi (I Maggio dei Fanciulli e Alba di Maggio) e i periodici illustrati pre-fascisti (Il Germoglio, Cuore e Il Fanciullo Proletario), giunge fino al più noto giornaletto a fumetti dell'Associazione pionieri d'Italia (Il Pioniere), amatissimo dai suoi lettori, che ancora oggi lo ricordano con nostalgia.
