Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Among the works were stunning shields from North East Congo and the Solomon Islands, fish traps from Cameroon, Ghana and Thailand, a colourful gorget from the Society Islands, Egyptian shoes, masks from the Salampasu of Angola and baskets from across the globe. The exhibition also included large-…scale basketry such as a reed boat from Lake Titicaca in Peru, a fishing weir from Papua New Guinea and a woven architectural wall panel from Guy's Hospital in London by artist Thomas Heatherwick. The exhibition featured new commissions and works by artists responding to the gallery spaces and the themes in the exhibition, showing how basketry is being used today. Spectacular contemporary art and design by leading artists including Dail Behennah, Mary Butcher, Ueno Masao and Lois Walpole was on display. Many weaving techniques were used to create designs ranging from simple geometric herringbone twill to the most complex sculptural forms. The works were made from a surprising variety of materials including traditional willow and cane, wire and recycled plastic. Other objects showed the application of basketry designs for ceramics, glassware and caving. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. Eight hundred years ago, there were 56 parish churches in Norwich. Thirty-one remain standing the greatest concentration of medieval churches in any town or city north of the Alps. Most retain medieval furnishings and monuments, painting and glazing, and about a quarter of them are of the ve…ry highest quality in terms of materials and design. The locations of most of the lost churches are known, and archaeological examination has been undertaken at several of their sites. Together they form an internationally important corpus of historic monuments. Remarkably, no detailed account of these churches as a group has ever been published. This book not only explores each of the churches standing and lost but also examines their contribution to the development of Norwich and its community in the Middle Ages. AUTHORS: Brian Ayers is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia and is the former Norfolk County Archaeologist. He has published extensively on Norwich and researches the archaeology of northern Europe, as seen in his book The German Ocean: Medieval Europe around the North Sea. Clare Haynes is a historian of British visual culture. She is also chair of trustees of Hungate Medieval Art, a charity based in the redundant medieval parish church of St Peter Hungate, Norwich. Sandy Heslop has published widely on English medieval art and architecture. His research interests include churches and castles, figurative imagery in all media, and the creative relationships between makers and their patrons. Helen Lunnon is a historian who specialises in the art and architecture of the English Middle Ages. Helen's interest in historic relationships between people and spaces is exemplified in her book East Anglian Church Porches and their Medieval Context. A beautifully illustrated, detailed account of all 56 parish churches recorded in Norwich by AD 1200, of which 31 remain standing. Examines each church from a variety of viewpoints archaeological, architectural, art historical and antiquarian, in the historical context of the development of Norwich from the 10th to the mid-16th centuries. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
