Rimasto ai margini delle antologie e dei canoni, in tempi recenti il Sermone è stato oggetto di una più approfondita analisi, volta a mettere in evidenza fonti, richiami, interferenze, offrendosi a un prezioso studio "di ritorno" che ha potuto portare in luce anche la persistenza di tasselli e di moduli nelle pieghe della letteratura religiosa a venire. Acquisiti i risultati messi a punto nel corso della storia della ricerca e i rilievi più recenti, la generosità di tre studiosi del Medioevo (Attilio Bartoli Langeli, Chiara Frugoni, Marta Mangini) rimette oggi al centro del dibattito il Sermone di Pietro, per un momento strappandolo alla piega di luce in cui si era, forse non del tutto involontariamente, adagiato. [.] Se il testo del Sermone è stato nella tradizione oggetto privilegiato della ricerca di chi si è occupato del manoscritto braidense, il volume che oggi si presenta vuole porsi, si crede per la prima volta nell'indagine su Pietro da Barsegapè, come studio complessivo di un codice: in questa prospettiva l'opera in versi, fulcro di tutta la discussione, dialoga con le miniature, con la materialità del manoscritto e, in filigrana, con il contesto storico e documentario". Il volume, curato da Giuseppe Polimeni, riproduce integralmente, in facsimile a colori, il Sermone di Pietro da Barsegapè (codice AD XIII 48) e riporta la classica "edizione" del 1891 di Carlo Salvioni.
