Doch wie wird christliche Existenz auf anderen Kontinenten gelebt Welchen Herausforderungen sieht man sich dort gegenüber und wie begegnet man ihnen Besonders zu Kirchen in den ehemaligen deutschen Kolonien haben sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten zum Teil intensive Beziehungen entwickelt. Am lebendigsten findet dies seinen Ausdruck in den sogenannten Direktpartnerschaften zwischen Kirchenkreisen in Deutschland oder der Schweiz und Kirchenkreisen auf anderen Kontinenten. Sie geht auf die Arbeit der Basler Mission zurück und feierte im vergangenen Jahr das 50-jährige Jubiläum ihrer Selbstständigkeit. Der Titel des Buches ist das Motto dieser Feierlichkeiten und beschreibt das Selbstverständnis der Kirche als eine von Christus zum Dienst an der Kameruner Gesellschaft berufene Gemeinschaft.Eine Besonderheit des Buches ist, dass es nahezu ausschließlich von Kamerunerinnen und Kamerunern selbst geschrieben ist. So ergibt sich eine genuin einheimische Sichtweise auf das Land und die in ihm arbeitende Presbyterianische Kirche. Das Ergebnis ist eine lebendige, selbstbewusste, jedoch keineswegs unkritische Darstellung von Land und Leuten und dem Engagement einer einheimischen Kirche. Deren Theologie wird im Übrigen in den verschiedenen Beiträgen auf sehr interessante und bodenständige Weise sichtbar. So ist das Buch ein wichtiger Beitrag zum Verstehen scheinbar fremder Länder und Kirchen über die Kontinente hinweg.
