Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: New. In this book, a psychologist and a professor detail the history, psychology, and effects of this little-studied condition that has altered individuals and societies worldwide, arguing that the disorder deserves its own classification.Psychoanalyst Erich Fromm in 1964 developed the term "malignant narcissism," believing it to be the worst form of psychopathology, a disorder that essentially epitomized evil. Malignant narcissism, however, has never been identified as a clinical condition in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders; instead, it is seen as a conglomeration of several other disorders. Yet researchers since Fromm have described malignant narcissists as unique in their callous nature and proclivity to extreme violence, with a component of sadism bringing them pleasure when inflicting pain. The largest concern about malignant narcissists is that "some have the ability and wherewithal to rise to great positions of power and influence" and to affect large numbers of people.Authors Smith and Hung explain the differences between malignant narcissists, "everyday" narcissists, and psychopaths, illustrating these conditions with vignettes of historic public figures and people in popular culture, among others.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Debate has arisen amongst researchers regarding the etiology of adolescent psychopathy. Some write that the focus of research should be ADHD, as many of the behaviors associated with the disorder are similar to that found in psychopathy. Other scholars disagree, writing that the emphasis should center on Conduct Problems, as they are a better indicator of future problems. Many of the behaviors associated with psychopathy are seen in students assigned to alternative educational settings. In order to gauge which factor had the strongest relationship with psychopathy, 80 male students, ranging in age from 12 to 18, placed at interim alternative educational settings for misbehavior were assessed using the Antisocial Process Screening Device---Youth Edition (APSD-Y) to determine level of psychopathy. ADHD was assessed using the Behavior Assessment Scale for Children- Second Edition (BASC-2) and Conners-Wells' Adolescent Self-Report Scale-L (CASS:L); likewise, both instruments were used to assess conduct problems. Each instrument used a self-report method. Results indicated conduct problems had a statistically significant relationship with adolescent psychopathy; however, ADHD did not. 144 pp. Englisch.
