Pink boards (crushed strawberry colour, sounds a bit fantastical but no other name for it), burgundy/brown leather spine and corners, some rubs. Spine, with tan panels of gilt decoration, evidently reglued, small loss to top. Gilt tops, other edges untrimmed/uncut. Marbled endpapers brown and gold. Cracked hinges, front section containing titlepage and frontipiece, loose. Substantial foxing to prelims and last few pages, sporadic otherwise. Neat owner's name on prelim. Titlepage in red and black. Beautifully illustrated with 6 engravings, attributed to both E. F. Sherie, and J. J. Waddington, with tissue guards containing caption.
