Thus, the present-day development pattern threatens fluvial systems,especially riverine morphology and ecosystems. In brief, human-induced morphological changes, water pollution, eutrophication, and related damages to aquatic organisms are the major threats to fluvial systems. The southern part of West Bengal holds a number of fresh water wetlands along with a vast estuarine area, which hold a number of indigenous ornamental fish species. So, a detail survey work has been conducted to collect in depth information on available indigenous ornamental fish species in four districts of South Bengal, namely North-24-Paraganas, South-24-Paraganas, Howrah and Kolkata. Seasonal variation of availability of the collected fish species in the four studied districts has also been recorded. This book will be helpful to gather basic knowledge about the available indigenous ornamental fish species of this particular part of South Bengal.
