Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Twenty years after his father s passing, Joe Reich stumbles upon a video interview that reveals astonishing truths his father never spoke about in life. In its haunting accounts, Reich learns that, only days after the German invasion of Poland in 1939, his father faced a firing squad and survived. The horrors that followed left him utterly alone, yet anchored by a cryptic prophecy promising that he would reach old age in a distant land. Against all odds, he fulfilled that destiny. Drawing on extensive research and numerous consultations, Reich weaves a vivid portrait of his father: an extraordinary man, Holocaust survivor, and devoted family patriarch. More than a remarkable survivor s tale, this book explores the essential power of memory and the crucial lessons history imparts. Uplifting and profound, this is the story of conquering life s darkest trials through resilience, hope and relentless determination. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Author: Joe Reich Format: Paperback Number of Pages: 294 Ernst Leitz II ( the photography industry s Schindler ) not only designed and manufactured Germany s most famous camera, but also saved hundreds of Jewish lives from certain death during the Holocaust. From the kernel of this true story, Joe Reich weaves an interesting sometimes outrageous blend of fact and fiction, historical and current times, drawing the reader into the fictional life and exploits of the protagonist elderly survivor Jack (Yaakov Stein) now living in Melbourne. After trying to pass off a false testimony to a young Catholic photographer, Ian Gross, he then relents and tells us the truth . Or does he?With false memoirs all the rage, this is clearly a fictitious story with some real characters, at once highly entertaining and deadly serious. Paperback. …

Very good with the ink stamped mailing address of Nikki Keddie, UCLA Department of History, to the back cover. The main article (pp3-28) covers the development of Soviet perceptions of and policies relating to the region since the October Revolution. Noting the limitations of covering such a vast topic, it is presented to encourage more detailed future analysis. Sections cover national liberation, prospects for Revolution in the East, the era of peaceful coexistence, detente and realpolitik, and trade and aid.…

Hardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. The Temple Mount compound (known in Arabic as the Haram as-Sarif), situated on the east side of the Old City of urban Jerusalem, is a majestic and holy site that has been venerated by millions for more than two thousand years. The compounds interior has been out of bounds to Western archaeologists for over a century, and modern researchers have therefore concentrated their efforts on the massive ancient stone walls that surround it.The third volume in the Ancient Jerusalem Publication series, The Southern Wall of the Temple Mount and Its Corners: Past, Present and Future concentrates on the southern retaining wall of the Herodian Temple Mount in Jerusalem, its two corners, and Robinsons Arch on the southern edge of the Western Wall. It presents the final reports of three excavations carried out adjacent to the wall and one under Robinsons Arch. Among the many new interpretations, the excavators present intriguing theories regarding the engineering of an ancient ramp for herding sacrificial animals up to the Temple Mount and a new reading of an Isaiah 66:14 graffito. The volume devotes a large section to conservation projects carried out in order to understand the problems causing the deterioration of the stones in the southern part of the Western Wall and find solutions to protect and preserve them. The volume also presents details of a major ground penetrating radar examination of this stretch of the Western Wall. "Presents final reports of three excavations at the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and its two corners. Examines the architecture, art, inscriptions, cemeteries, and conservation projects in these parts of the ancient compound"-- Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
