Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Perry Schmidt-Leukel has made significant contributions to the academic study of religion and religious diversity through his innovative work in Theology and Religious Studies. In his publications, he has not only overcome apologetic barriers between Buddhism and Christianity and demonstrated the potential for mutual enrichment of various religious traditions in dialogue, but also championed a pluralist Theology of Religions. On this pluralist basis, Schmidt-Leukel has developed the vision of a theology beyond boundaries, which takes the form of interreligious discourse and draws on the rich resources and insights of the global history of religions. This Festschrift in honor of Perry Schmidt-Leukel on the occasion of his seventieth birthday brings together essays that constructively engage with his erudite and wide-ranging contributions to the fields of Theology of Religions, Interreligious Theology, Philosophy of Religion, Buddhist and Religious Studies, Buddhist-Christian Relations, and Interreligious Dialogue.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - In Jain Approaches to Plurality Melanie Barbato offers a new perspective on the Jain teaching of plurality (anekantavada) and how it allowed Jains to engage with other discourses from Indian inter-school philosophy to global interreligious dialogue. Jainism, one of the world's oldest religions, has managed to both adapt and preserve its identity across time through its inherently dialogical outlook. Drawing on a wide range of textual sources and original research in India, Barbato analyses the encounters between Jains and non-Jains in the classical, colonial and global context. Jain Approaches to Plurality offers a comprehensive introduction to anekantavada as a non-Western resource for understanding plurality and engaging in dialogue.'Building upon earlier work in this field without simply reduplicating it, Melanie Barbato's work delves deeply into the question of the relevance of Jain approaches to religious and philosophical diversity to contemporary issues of inter-religious dialogue, and dialogues across worldviews more generally. (.) This work is a most welcome contribution to the conversation.'-- Jeffery D. Long, Professor of Religion and Asian Studies, Elizabethtown College. April 2017. Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Interreligious dialogue is increasingly perceived as an important factor in politics that can contribute to successful collaborations on a wide range of issues from containing local conflicts to tackling global climate change. While some see the dialogue of religious leaders as vital for bringing about a better world for all, others are more critical. The essays in this special issue of CrossCurrents begin with questions about the relationship between interreligious dialogue and diplomacy. How are career diplomats trained in religious literacy and interacting with religious leaders How are states trying to use diplomatic dialogue to further their goals, and how are religious actors negotiating their own agency How political should interreligious dialogue be Contributors here are diplomats and scholars who present cases that examine the effectiveness of interreligious dialogue as a form of advancing political interests peacefully. In the September 2022 issue of CrossCurrents:'Editorial Introduction: Interreligious Dialogue and Diplomacy' by Melanie Barbato'Diplomacy and interreligious dialogue: A generative model' by Pasquale Ferrara'Interfaith Dialogue and Healthcare Diplomacy during Covid-19 and Beyond: Parameters, Opportunities, and Constraints' by Nukhet A.
