Buch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The field of petrochemicals started some years ago with the simple addition reaction of water to propylene for the production of isopropyl alcohol. Currently, the petrochemical industry has become a multi-billion dollar enterprise which encompasses a wide field of chemical products. Almost all the basic organic reactions such as hydrogenation, alkylation, substitution, polymerization, etc. are utilized for the production of these chemicals. It may not, however, have been possible to establish this huge industry without the use of different catalysts. In other words, the great advancements in the catalytic area have supported the vast developments in the petrochemical field. In this book, we have adopted the idea of discussing the petrochemical industry from the point of view of reactants' activities and susceptibilities toward different catalysts. The book is thus classified according to the reaction type. This will eriable students and other users of the book to base their understanding of the petrochemical field on the fundamental principles learned in chemistry. How ever, the first chapter is aimed at establishing some basic facts on the petro chemical industry and its major uses. It discusses, without going into details, the raw materials used, the intermediates and the downstream products. The next eight chapters discuss in some detail the main reactions and the catalysts used for the production of chemicals and polymers from petroleum. The last chapter is devoted to a discussion of some of the practical techniques used in the catalytic field.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - With war ravaging his home in Syria, Dabbour, an introverted, 25-year-old pigeon herder, flees to Berlin with Yasser, his childhood friend. One day in a Berlin train station, Dabbour sees a wayward, injured pigeon on the railway tracks; without thinking he jumps to save it, causing chaos and almost getting himself killed. For this, he is arrested by the police - and he realizes how much he misses home and his birds. Yasser asks Dabbour to use his talents as a 'pigeon whisperer' to steal stray pigeons and train them to transport drugs. Dabbour agrees, then realizes it was a big mistake. Dabbour sinks further and further into the world of crime and drug-smuggling, jeopardizing his residency status in Germany. Dabbour is forced to choose between his loyalty to his new 'family' - the drug ring - and doing the right thing. Will love be his ultimate salvation.…

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. What if your favorite movie wasn't just a movie? What if it were a portal to a forgotten golden age, and a chance to rewrite your fate? The Blue Lotus is a nostalgic, time-bending, metaphysical love letter to Egypt's cinematic golden age. It follows Ali, a devoted moviegoer obsessed with an old black-and-white film starring Abdel Halim Hafez. When a mysterious ticketmaster hands him a blue lotus, a ticket to the past. Ali is thrust into 1960s Cairo, where he finds himself on the set of his beloved film. But the past isn't a polished reel of memories; it's a volatile, fragile world on the cusp of revolution and war.Caught between the fading glamour of Egypt's cultural heyday and the brewing Six-Day War, Ali blurs the lines between observer and participant. As he tries to preserve the sanctity of the movie he loves and perhaps his own existence, he realizes that nostalgia is a dangerous drug, and sometimes the only way forward is to let the past rest.Visually lush, emotionally rich, and thematically timeless, The Blue Lotus of Cairo is about obsession, memory, the impermanence of beauty, and the existential ache of witnessing a golden age slip away. A speculative historical drama with metaphysical overtones, it speaks to anyone who's ever wanted to live inside their favorite story, and be haunted by what that might cost.
