Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - A retired lawyer, Harry Chalberg, seeks justice for the murders of his son and daughter-in-law, fueled by the inflammatory rhetoric of a talk radio program. His crusade against New Signal News and The Cal Brown Show reveals a dark underbelly of media manipulation, political corruption, and…the devastating consequences of unchecked greed. The story delves into the complexities of media ethics, corporate greed, and political corruption. Radioland will resonate with readers who enjoy legal thrillers and political dramas. Those interested in media ethics, social justice, and the impact of political rhetoric will find this story particularly engaging. I believe readers who appreciate complex characters with strong moral dilemmas will relate to Harry's struggle.

Condición: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Seiten: 500 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | At its core, Radioland is a contemporary political novel. It is the story of an old man's pursuit for justice after the murder of his son and his son's wife by a white nationalist. Harry Chalberg blamed the Cal Brown Radio Sho…w for inciting vulnerable people to commit violence against others. After a long successful career as a prosecuting attorney for the State of Maryland, Harry Chalberg began working pro bono for the National Tolerance Law Center. He and his career long assistant Mariam Katz only devoted their senior years to make the conservative advocacy media accountable for the rhetoric broadcasted on the network. It is also a story of how money influences the definition of acceptable and unacceptable, right and wrong, and decency. How special interest and large multi-national business concerns use politicians and the courts to ensure their longevity. Austin Securities and Investments is an influential multifaceted international corporation with hundreds of billions in revenues worldwide. Hailey Austin, the co-chairman of the board has used his money / influence to create New Signal News (NSN) a conservative media conglomerate with radio and television stations from coast to coast. Worden McAllister, a think tank owned by Austin Securities, developed an idea in the mid-1980's. They used Joseph Goebbels' 1930s media influence in Germany as their model for their new programming. The intent behind the creation of NSN was to control the narrative and redirect attention when necessary, not to promote a master Arian race theory. It is the story of how Calvin Brown, a naïve country young man from a small town in Breckenridge County, Kentucky, became the voice of conservative talk radio. He and his wife Mary had ambitions of somehow becoming rich. They moved to Chicago where Cal took a job at a small radio station who played nothing but smooth jazz. His deep voice with a soft Southern drawl was exactly what Andy Cole was looking for when her heard Calvin in the radio. The serendipitous encounter between Calvin Brown and Andy Cole was the first step in Calvin's extraordinarily lucrative career. It was the opportunity of a lifetime the price of which was too much to pay. Everything in Calvin's life changed even his name. Jack Austin Jr. was Hailey Austin's older brother. The Austin brothers were raised in Fresno, California, the sons of Jack Austin Sr, who owned a successful farm implement dealer. The brother couldn't have been more different. The brothers were cochairmen of the board of directors of Austin Securities. Hailey was the super successful enigmatic businessman who grew his father's small farm implement business into an enormous international success. Jack Jr. had little to say about the day-to-day operations of the business. He managed, The Austin Brothers Charitable Foundation. Although they were very different people, they split the profits fifty-fifty making the brothers two of the wealthiest men on Earth. By hunch, Jack hired Carlos Solis, a small-town young lawyer, to investigate various aspects of the business. The story follows Harry Chalberg and Mariam Katz in their pursuit to bring justice for the collateral damage caused by the Cal Brown Show. As Cal Brown's career is ending, the aspirations of LaVerta Stoneberger, a troubled young woman from Sheridan, Montana are just beginning.

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Accused of the brutal murder of his beautiful, wealthy lover, facially disfigured Jack Holt stands little chance against a justice system eager to convict him. His only hope is Joe Hammer, a disgraced prosecutor given a final chance at redemption. As the trial unfolds through the eyes of a p…rejudiced jury, Joe must uncover a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of power before his client, and his own fragile career, are condemned forever.Jack Holt, a man with a severe facial disfigurement, is put on trial for the rape and murder of his beautiful and wealthy lover, Maggie Stewart. Disbarred prosecutor Joe Hammer is given a chance at redemption when a mentor assigns him to be Jack's public defender, forcing him to confront a corrupt system he once served. The trial progresses through the multiple perspectives of the jury, whose prejudices against Jack's appearance threaten to derail justice, while Joe uncovers a conspiracy involving the victim's husband and the corrupt District Attorney. As the trial intensifies, the relentless undercurrents among the jury spiral around Jack's disfigurement as much as his supposed crime. Joe, battered by memories of his own disgrace and the weight of new evidence, finds himself navigating not only the labyrinth of legal procedure but also the tangled loyalties and vendettas of Marsh County. Each day in court strips away another layer of illusion, revealing not only the community's hunger for a villain but also the fear that justice may be more performance than principle. Throughout the novel, the settings themselves reflect the tensions and contradictions at the heart of the story. The jury deliberations echo the chilling distance between justice and truth, while the Fourth Street Diner's warmth offers a brief respite from the relentless suspicion pressing in from all sides. Joe Hammer, haunted by his own disgrace and driven by desperate hope, finds allies and enemies where he least expects them, among the everyday people whose lives intersect with the trial's outcome. As the evidence mounts and the jury's biases become ever more apparent, the narrative explores not only the tangled web of relationships surrounding the crime but also the personal battles fought by those ensnared in its aftermath. The struggle for justice is not fought only in the courtroom but also in the hearts and minds of a community torn between fear, loyalty, and the seductive power of appearances. Within this charged atmosphere, alliances shift and secrets surface, casting doubt on every testimony and motive. The ghosts of the past-both Jack's and Joe's-linger in the margins, refusing to let the present move forward unburdened. This item is printed on demand. Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This is an autobiographical essay titled; I'm Just Like You. It is a story about living my life with a facial difference. My facial difference was the aftereffect of bulbar polio. Unlike the most common type of the polio virus (infantile… paralysis) bulbar polio paralyzed and caused atrophy in various parts the upper left side of my body. The seventh cranio nerve was affected more than other nerves in the bulbar region of my brain.More than the physical effects of the virus, it is an expose' about the bigotry I and others like me encountered nearly every day. The bigotry ranges from a subtle second look to a violent reaction. I share the stories in my life that have made me who I am today. The discrimination felt by the facial difference community is experienced by many people who are different for other reasons, black and brown people, ethnicity, LGBTQ community, women, disabled, some religions, and many others. The intent is to bring awareness to our situation so we can begin making sustainable societal changes that enable many different people to have a seat at the table.
