Illustrated boards have rubbing and bumping to corners and spine. The spine is faded and discoloured with some damp staining which also affects the left side of the front panel and the bottom of the rear panel. Page edges are browned with a little staining to the top edges. The decorative endpapers are lightly browned with staining along the hinge to the front endpapers. School prize writing on reverse of front free endpaper. Illustrations by E.H.Shepard and a sheet advertising an exhibition of the original drawings is laid in. No jacket.
