Their conformational behavior, on the otherhand, is studied by optical and electron microscopy, whichreveals that membranes in aqueous solution exhibit anamazing variety of different shapes. Several theoreticalconcepts are described suchas bending elasticity,curvature, and minimal surfaces in order to understand thispolymorphism.
