Die Vernichtung des Nazismus mit seinen Wurzeln ist unsere Losung. Der Aufbau einer neuen Welt des Friedens und der Freiheit ist unser Ziel. Das sind wir unseren gemordeten Kameraden, ihren Angehörigen schuldig. So formulierten die kommunistischen Widerstandskämpfer ihre Entschlossenheit auf der Trauerkundgebung des Internationalen Lagerkomitees für die Toten von Buchenwald am 19. April 1945.Der so genannte Schwur von Buchenwald entwickelte sich in den folgenden Jahren zu einem wichtigen Symbol für die ehemaligen politischen Häftlinge unter dem Gewaltregime Adolf Hitlers. Die im März 1947 gegründete Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes , kurz: VVN, begriff den Schwur als Kampfansage für ihre politische Arbeit im Rahmen der Entnazifizierung, Demokratisierung und Vergangenheitsbewältigung Deutschlands. Den Terror, den die Verfolgten am eigenen Leib erfahren hatten, wollten sie getreu dem Schwur von Buchenwald nie wieder Wirklichkeit werden lassen. Auch der hauseigene Röderberg-Verlag der VVN, den die vorliegende Arbeit zum Inhalt hat, stellte den Schwur einigen seiner Publikationen voran. Die politische Richtung des Verlages wird eindeutig: Im Verlagsprogramm finden sich neben Sachbüchern über Faschismus und Widerstand auch antifaschistische Romane sowie Einzeldarstellungen nationalsozialistischer Konzentrationslager. Man wollte informieren, aufklären, aufarbeiten. Inwieweit diese Ziele erfüllt wurden und woran der Verlag schließlich scheiterte, soll in der vorliegenden Arbeit untersucht werden. Aufgrund der geringen Quellenlage zum Röderberg-Verlag soll das Thema aus verschiedenen historischen, oft auch kontroversen Perspektiven erschlossen werden. Denn wie die meisten politischen Richtungsverlage der frühen Bundesrepublik spiegelt auch der Röderberg-Verlag historische Aspekte rund um die Frage nach einer deutschen Identität im Kontext einer traurigen Vergangenheit wider. Viele politische Verlage der frühen Bundesrepublik wirken fast wie Kommentatoren einer konfliktreichen BRD-Geschichte; hier bildet der Röderberg-Verlag keine Ausnahme.

Wie konnte sich ein Land, in dem die industrialisierte Wirtschaft weitgehend fehlt, in dem Armut und Analphabetismus vorherrschen und dessen ethnische, religiöse und kulturelle Vielfalt ohne Beispiel ist auf diesem Planeten, zu einer der ältesten und größten Demokratien der Welt entwickeln Und warum kann eine solche Demokratie, dessen Gesellschaft sich entlang tiefster Konfliktlinien organisiert, auf Dauer überleben Eine Antwort darauf sucht man besonders im Bereich der Internationalen Beziehungen komparativer Politikwissenschaften, die eine Fülle an Theorien zur Analyse und zur Erklärung dieser Fragen hervorgebracht haben. Die vorliegende Arbeit wird sich mit einer für die Politikwissenschaft, insbesondere für die Transitionsforschung, sehr relevanten Theorie beschäftigen: mit der Theorie der Defekten Demokratie Wolfgang Merkels.Wolfgang Merkel, Professor für Politikwissenschaft am Institut für Sozialwissenschaften an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, untersucht seit Beginn der 1990er Jahre Transitionsländer auf ihrem Weg zur Demokratie. Sein kritisches und innovatives Konzept der Defekten Demokratie ist bestrebt, politische Regimetypen, die sich in einer Grauzone zwischen Autoritarismus und Demokratie befinden, zu analysieren und zu kategorisieren. In zahlreichen Werken hat Merkel theoretische Grundlagen gelegt und verschiedenste Fallbeispiele geprüft, unter anderem auch Indien.In dieser Arbeit wird die indische Demokratie unter Anwendung der Theorie von Wolfgang Merkel untersucht. Aufgrund der fast unüberschaubaren Menge an Analysemöglichkeiten werde ich mich an dieser Stelle auf den Bereich der Institutionen des politischen Regimes Indiens beschränken.Diese Arbeit ist in zwei Kapitel unterteilt. Im ersten möchte ich die Theorie Merkels kurz darstellen und besonders den Untersuchungsansatz verfolgen, der die Ursachen defekter Demokratien in politischen Institutionen sucht. Im zweiten Teil soll nach einer kurzen Darstellung der Besonderheiten und Entstehungshintergründe der indischen Institutionen untersucht werden, wie das Konzept Merkels darauf angewendet werden kann, welche Lösungen es findet und welche Probleme sich dabei ergeben. Ob diese Theorie allerdings ausreicht, um alle Fragen und Konflikte zu lösen, die die Vielfalt und Widersprüchlichkeiten rund um die Demokratie Indiens betreffen, bleibt frag- und kritikwürdig. So geht die postkoloniale Theorie davon aus, dass jede wissenschaftliche Aneignung des 'Anderen' von eigenen Denk- und Vorstellungsweisen von Differenz bereits diskursiv vorgeprägt ist. Dieses Denken in Dichotomien diente der Selbstvergewisserung und Etablierung der europäischen Identität seit der Moderne und lieferte den Legitimationsgrund für die Beherrschung der nicht-europäischen Länder. Das Besondere der postkolonialen Theorie liegt darin, dass sie seit den 1970er Jahren vor allem von nicht-westlichen Intellektuellen entwickelt wurde, die an den namhaften Universitäten in Europa und den USA arbeiteten und deshalb mit einer doppelten Perspektive der Erfahrung zweier Kulturen ausgestattet waren; ihre Werke zielten unter anderem auf die Überwindung des Kulturkolonialismus als auch der überlegenen Arroganz des Westens und übten starke Kritik am akademischen Eurozentrismus.Vor diesem Hintergrund fruchtete ein zunehmend kritisches Bewusstsein im akademischen Diskurs, das ebenso durch den Dekonstruktivismus und Poststrukturalismus angeregt wurde. So setzt sich die postkoloniale Theorie reflexiv mit den Institutionalisierungen orientalistischer, kolonialer und moderner Vorstellungen und Paradigmen auseinander, die bis heute verschiedenste diskursive Praktiken prägen.Aus dieser Perspektive heraus will die vorliegende Arbeit der Frage nachgehen, wie die nationalkulturelle Identität in Japan im Wechselspiel mit den Problematiken des Eurozentrismus, Kolonialismus und Orientalismus erst gedacht werden konnte und wie die postkoloniale Debatte dabei implizit die modernen Wissenschaften kritisiert. Japan steht dabei als Beispiel für einen imaginären Topos der paradigmatischen Moderne, dessen Logiken, die bis heute unsere Vorstellungen von Identität, Kultur und dem 'Anderen' prägen, mithilfe der postkolonialen Theorie aufgedeckt werden sollen. Dabei spielt bei vielen Autoren das Imaginäre, das Vorgestellte, Bildhafte, Erfundene oder auch das Phantasmatische eine zentrale Rolle. Sie zeigen, dass die begrifflichen Konzepte wie Identität, Kultur oder Nation auf gewissen Vorstellungen beruhen, die sich verändern und eine Geschichte haben, die von uns gedacht werden und immer auch wirklichkeitskonstituierend sind.

Kommunikation, Note: 1,0, Universität Leipzig (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Identität und Repräsentation, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der…Krieg ist in unserer Gesellschaft allgegenwärtig: Meldungen über Terror und Bürgerkriege, über Tod und Zerstörung beherrschen die Medien; Konkurrenz und Machtkämpfe konstituieren unser alltägliches, soziales Umfeld; und auch in der Politik kämpfen Parteien um das Wohlwollen der Öffentlichkeit. Marco Althaus schreibt: 'Politik ist Krieg mit anderen Mitteln. Politik ist ein Krieg um Positionen. [.] Die Waffen der Politik sind Symbole für Furcht und Hoffnung'. Seinen martialischen Formulierungen zufolge ist Politikmanagement eine Art Kriegshandwerk und eine Wahlkampagne ein kommunikativer Feldzug. Die Verwendung solcher Metaphorik verdeutlicht, wie sehr das menschliche Denken und Handeln von Konflikt und Aggression geprägt ist. Doch inwiefern kann Krieg nur als Aberration vom 'Normalzustand' gesehen werden Ist er nicht vielmehr das zentrale Element unseres gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens Wie kann man das Politische als konfliktgeladene Repräsentation eines Kriegszustandes, eines permanenten Ausnahmezustands denken Innerhalb der Politikwissenschaft rückt ein Konflikt- und Dissensverständnis des Politischen immer mehr in den Vordergrund, während liberale, kommunitaristische oder deliberative Denkmodelle an Bedeutung verlieren. Dieses Essay wird das Konfliktverständnis von Politik im Rahmen einer Diskussion der Theorien von drei französischen Philosophen betrachten; dabei soll die Methode selbst eine der Konfrontation sein: Michel Foucault, Jean Baudrillard sowie Gilles Deleuze und ihre jeweiligen Überlegungen bezüglich der Frage, wie man das Politische als Kampf, gar als Krieg, denken kann, werden darin Platz finden und, ähnlich eines Streitgespräches, ihre Parallelen, Diskontinuitäten, Standpunkte und Strategien aufzeigen. Die Wahl der drei erfolgte aufgrund ihres Spannungsverhältnisses zueinander: In vielfältigen Veröffentlichungen haben sich Foucault, Baudrillard als auch Deleuze gegenseitig kritisiert, theoretische Fragmente des jeweils anderen übernommen, Ideen weiterentwickelt oder verworfen. Das Verhältnis zwischen ihnen war, als eine Folge der Aushandlung und Verwandlung ihrer Differenzen, durchaus von Produktivität geprägt, wie im Folgenden gezeigt werden soll.
