The energy storage system is used to make the intermittent PV power more dispatchable and stable. Here, the storage device is mainly taken as Ni-MH(Nickel metal hydride) battery, as it is more convenient to use in high power applications such as solar and wind systems because of its low cost and availability in large size. Finally the active power, reactive power, PCC current and PCC voltage is compared during the line to ground fault so that the performance comparison can be done in case of PV system and BESS based PV system to investigate that after the fault occurrence how faster the system returns to stable position from the unstable position. Hence it is found that in the BESS system based PV system the proposed controller acts better as compared to that of the PV system only. 84 pp. Englisch.
