The retirees were divided into 4 strata by using stratified sampling which includes male and female workers, school teachers, nurses and the males retired from Army. Various aspects of retirees life were explored like stress level, anxieties of the elderly life, dependency, restriction in mobility, mental or physical ill health, being handicapped as a result of an accident. The fabric of Pakistani society is still very strong and the retirees got all the moral and emotional support from the society, which they needed over the time. Retirees of low pension groups kept themselves busy in doing odd jobs so that they could meet the requirements of their house hold. Many retirees were suffering from illness. The attitude of youngsters towards retirees was usually very positive. Most of the retirees proudly admitted that their children and youngsters were respectful towards them. 144 pp. Englisch.
