Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Not Issued. 1st Edition. Gray cloth, lettered/decorated in brown, blue, and red. 1st ed.: Nov. 1900. 105 pp., illus., with supplementary data slip mounted on rear blank (p. [105]). Cover cloth modestly foxed, with tanning to spine panel. Both boards slightly bowed. Corners rubbed with slight exposure, a bit more pronounced to bottom rear corner. Upper front flyleaf shows period inked signature of Nat Schmulowitz, a San Francisco attorney, civic leader, humanitarian, and bibliophile who graduated from Berkeley in 1910 (beneath his signature is penned "U.C. 1910"). Schmulowitz is perhaps best remembered as one of a team of lawyers who successfully defended Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle on charges of manslaughter in three separate trials in 1921-22; his humor collection, established in 1947 and encompassing more than 23,000 volumes, resides at the San Francisco Public Library. This volume was issued in Nov. 1900, apparently just days prior to the infamous "Glasshouse disaster" that occurred at the 10th annual game on 29 Nov. of that year, the greatest loss of spectator life in the history of American sports. A decently preserved copy showing wear commensurate with age but no major faults. Exceptionally scarce. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book. …

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. A high school valedictorian from Brooklyn. A dream of attending Harvard University that is dashed by circumstances beyond his control. His future shattered as he loses everything he ever wanted. Unless . . . now is his chance to regain his dream, with the bet of a lifetime. If he can somehow earn $10,000 by the end of the summer, he may still have this golden opportunity to go to Harvard. This tale demonstrates the obstacles he faces, and how far he is willing to go to earn the money to achieve his dream. It is a test of character for Anthony Galiano - one with ups and downs. He faces challenges from all directions as he works to make his dream come true. What about the budding relationship with his girlfriend? Is he willing to sacrifice for the cause? Is his weird grandfather going to thwart his goal, or help him along the way? And even if he somehow succeeds in raising the cash, will his father honor the bet he made with his son and give up the treasured classic corvette he has spent years restoring? And how many appearances will former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani make in this story? But the larger question remains: How would YOU handle this challenging situation if YOU were the one in Anthony's shoes? Hmm? Leaving Brooklyn . . . Fuhgeddaboudit! "I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there's purpose and worth to each and every life." -Ronald Wilson Reagan This delightful story features scores of quotations from the late president, Ronald Reagan. It also includes numerous songs and poems written by the author, featured after each chapter and throughout the book. Jack Honig is a JEOPARDY! Champion and long time philanthropist. He is a self-described wordsmith and humorist. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…

Taschenbuch. Jahrhunderts in hohem Maße bedeutsam.
