(Friedrich Daniel Ernst), 1768-1834. ``The ex amination must proceed by focusing on the fundamental polarity indicated by the question concerning the relationship of theology to philosophy, or better yet, the relationship of God and the world. In specific and concrete literary terms, this means that we must approach the problem of the eternal covenant through an investigation of the internal structure of the Dialectic and from there move on to a study of the relation ship of the Dialectic to The Christian Faith.' (p. 28) -- `There is one central aim in the Dialectic,and Schleiermacher moves toward it with an untiring tenacity, unfolding in the process his principles in every new combinations and proceeding from different starting points.'
