About the book >.>.> Among the key concepts that dominate the life's work of D?ra Maurer, two in particular stand out: trace-leav ing and displacement. It would be only a slight exaggera-tion to say that all of Maurer's works are connected in some way to these two closely interrelated concepts. Her works can be described as visualisations of mov-ing elements and planes, as complex analyses of the structures of traces generated through movement. Moreover, in a broader sense, her entire ?uvre can be interpreted as permanent motion: a configuration of various groups of works, mediums, colours and planes that counterpoint and supplement each other, merge into and interweave with one another, and sometimes reveal an almost musical structure, in which the rigidity of the (mathematical) system is relieved by the playful-ness of her experimentation and by the poetry in her harmonies of colour The two basic concepts, trace-leaving and displace-ment, are connected in that they both presuppose interactions and correlations, in her works. Maurer m.
