Die Natur kennt diese Fesseln nicht und baut nach anderen Gesetzen z. B. die tausendfältigen Schalen mit einem Minimum an Material und Volumen. Auf der Suche nach Lösungen für neue Formen führte Isler zahlreiche unkonventionelle Experimente durch. So zeigte ihm ein mit Daunen gefülltes Kopfkissen einen Weg, Buckelschalen ingenieurmässig bearbeiten zu können. Gewebe und Membranen führten zu neuen Hängeformen, und im Winter wurde sein Garten zum Experimentierfeld für Eisversuche an allerlei Objekten. Die vorliegende Publikation gibt Einblick in das aussergewöhnliche Schaffen des Schweizer Ingenieurs, dessen markante Bauten seit Anfang der 50er Jahre an zahlreichen Orten im In- und Ausland zu sehen sind.
