Leafing through this book and its superb plates is enough to convince yourself of this: they are in particular some of the most beautiful and diversified fossils that can be found on the same site. They have a triple power of seduction. They arouse curiosity, whether that of the layman or that of the paleontologist. They respond to our need for beauty and authenticity. This book reveals in detail the marine animals that populated this geographical area some 200 to 166 million years ago, as found and studied by fervent amateurs relayed by competent scientists.
