Soft cover. Condición: New. 1st Edition. The world is still spellbound by the phenomenon called Mr. Donald J. Trump the new President of the United States of America. He has spectacularly garnered the attention of people around the globe, influencing their viewpoint on world politics and international trade; the resultant impression has great consequences for the US and the world. Trump has taken a surprisingly divergent stand against the trade policy that was being pursued by the Obama administration. This has resulted in chaos, and muddied the world trade process. USA is India`s number one trade partner, especially for exports. Any significant shift in the American trade policy is surely going to impact India`s trade relationship with the superpower, and its domestic economic growth, whereas the agenda set by the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, is to increase Indian exports to the US and move to the next level of trade engagement (after a very successful relationship with the previous American President, Mr. Barack Obama). It becomes imperative now, more than ever, to carefully assess this shift and understand its impact on the Indian foreign trade in order to understand whether the accession of Trump as the US President is in India`s interest or against it. The book attempts to demystify and understand Trump`s approach to dealmaking through current events within and outside the USA, and by studying his past literary writing. It also attempts to suggest routes to strengthen the Indo-US trade relationship in goods and services. It tries to put across few recommendations for the Indian government to help increase Indian exports to the US and how, reciprocally, the American administration can meet their trade objectives. The approach of the book has been simple and suggestive, which would need detailed strategy for implementation. (jacket).…

Hardcover. Condición: New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: New. 1st Edition. This book delves into the economic dimension of India-Central Asia relations in the light of post-Cold War international developments. With Central Asia today being treated as India`s ``extended neighbourhood``, the importance of Central Asia to India is now not merely civilizational and historical, but also geopolitical and economic. Therefore, the book argues that India`s relationship with Central Asia must be seen in terms of a unique multi pronged approach, including, political, economic, strategic, cultural and development partnership. However, given the existing drawbacks in India`s economic engagement with each of the five Central Asian Republics (CARs), the entire study of the book focusses on evaluating the extent and pattern of over two decades of their economic and trade ties in order to make a future projection of the ongoing relations. It seeks Indian policy makers to be aware of the fact that all round economic engagement with Central Asia can be an answer to New Delhi`s multiple objectives: (a) to maintain its political influence in the region; (b) to meet its energy requirements; and (c) to develop a market for its own products. The study is based on the assumption that India`s quest for establishing a strong foothold in the region is likely to depend on consolidating its presence and visibility in the region until political situation allows it to get a cheaper and more secure access to Central Asia through Afghan, Chinese or the Iranian territory. This assumption is grounded on the premise that by pursuing a ``multi-vector`` foreign policy all the Central Asian Republics are seeking to avoid overreliance on any one or handful of foreign partners to ensure security in their political, economic and strategic fields. It further argues that despite the centrality of energy issue, India-Central Asia economic relations now need to be seen through wider prism that would involve important sectors of each of the CARs` economic development planning: uranium, electricity, hydroelectricity, infrastructure, construction, transport, banking, agribusiness, and above all emerging sectors such as the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. It explores various transportation networks which are likely to propel India into Central Asian picture in the near future. In doing so, it seeks to arrive at a rationale to understand new perspectives and orientations of Indian policy towards Central Asian Republics as enunciated in the ``Connect Central Asia`` policy unveiled in 2012. Hardcover. Condición: New. 1st Edition. This book is a revised extension of the previous edition, India-Central Asia Relations: The Economic Dimension, and delves deeper into the complex and intricate geopolitical, security and economic relationship of India with Central Asia. India considers Central Asia as its "extended neighbourhood", and has taken various initiatives like "Connect Central Asia" and full membership of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and views Central Asian Republics (CARs) as an answer to India's multiple objectives: (a) to maintain its political influence in the region; (b) fulfil India's energy requirements; (c) to develop a meaningful economic and trade relationship; and (d) contribute in CARs development by expanding its bouquet of goods and services exports in areas where they benefit mutually. The book covers the detailed study of the issues involved, stakeholders, extent and pattern of the relationship, evaluates the current approach and suggests further possibilities to strengthen the Indo-Central Asia relationship. There has been a tectonic change in the world around us China is the new Capitalist State, and a champion of free trade; the US is the new Socialist State and wishes to be more conservative and protective with its inward looking 'America First' policy; Russia is evolving again to be a Super Power and the EU is facing Brexit; in India, Narendra Modi is the new Prime Minister, who is committed to strengthen India-Central Asia relationship. These events occurred after Dr. Chandra's previous study, and they have a major impact on India's strategic and foreign trade relationship with CARs, hence the need for this revised edition. The book tries to offer a rationale, new perspective, policy re-orientation and shift in India's approach to Central Asia. (jacket).…
