This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -For a long period of time, the probability theory was meant to interpret the laws of averages but even within this theory occurrences now associated with extreme values had been viewed as accidents or surprises without regular laws. This view has changed only quite recently, and in this work we deal with some of the present stage problems of extreme value theory from the mathematical and practical points of view. The main aim of this work is to study the limiting behavior of the random maximum of np-dimensional distributed random variables, which are non-identical. The results of this study have found applications to many natural problems, e.g., the project scheduling of military activities by PERT technique. Moreover, in this work we study the asymptotic behavior of the vector of the multivariate extremes, with random sample sizes. random sample sizes naturally arise in such topics as sequential analysis, branching processes, damage models or rarefaction of point processes and records as maxima. 112 pp. Englisch.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Kamps (1995) suggested a new theoretical approach, which is called generalized order statistics (gos). This new model includes ordinary order statistics (oos), sequential order statistics, progressive type II censored order statistics and record values. The concept of gos enables a common approach to structural similarities and analogies. The distributional and inferential properties of oos and record values turn out to remain valid for gos (cf. Cramer and Kamps, 2001). Thus, the concept of gos provides a large class of models with many interesting and useful properties for both the description and the analysis of practical problems. Due to this reason, the question arises whether the general distribution theory of gos as well as their properties can be obtained by analogy with that for oos. The latter has been extensively investigated in the literature, e.g., see, David, 1981. The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of some important functions of gos, in view of theory of statistics and its applications. Some of these functions are non-linear, e.g., extremal product and extremal quotient and other are linear e.g., range and midrange. 120 pp. Englisch.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -In the last two decades E. Pancheva and her collaborators were investigating various limit theorems for extremes using a wider class of normalizing mapping than the linear ones to get a wider class of limit laws. This wider class of extreme limits can be used in solving approximation problems. For extreme order statistics, in a recent paper by Sreehari (2009), the domains of attraction for general nonlinear normalizations are fully characterized, including the question of how to choose suitable norming functions from the knowledge of the sample distribution. The main aim of this thesis is to extend the work of Pancheva (1984) and Sreehari (2009) for the maximum order statistics to order statistics with variable ranks. It is shown that, in contrast to the case of extremes, the well known limit distributions for central order statistics under linear normalization (c.f Smirnov 1952) coincides with those under power normalization. In the case of intermediate order statistics all possible limit distributions under power normalization are derived from corresponding results in the extremal case. Furthermore, the corresponding domains of attractions of these possible limits are derived. 128 pp. Englisch.

Also, to solve the problem of the choice peak over threshold in the case of GPDL and the validity of bootstrap method in the case of GEVL modeling. We suggest the sub-sample bootstrap method to convert any data to block data to use it for GEVL modeling. Moreover, we introduced the Generalized Pareto Distribution under Power normalization (GPDP), which enables us to suggest an efficient method for modeling extreme value under power normalization. We present statistical inference about the upper tail distribution for (GPDP). We also compare between the modeling under linear normalization and under power normalization. Finally, in the last chapter of this book the inconsistent and weak consistency of bootstrapping central and intermediate order statistics for an appropriate choice o re-sample size are investigated. 132 pp. Englisch.
