Die Monographie "I"m proud to be Irish" beschäftigt sich deshalb mit der heutigen irischen Diaspora in den USA. Das Buch ist ein gründlich recherchierter Beitrag zur Ethnizitäts- und Diasporaforschung, zwei wichtigen Untersuchungsgebieten der Ethnologie. Die Ergebnisse über die irische Diaspora in den USA beruhen auf Feldforschungen in Irland und in den USA, insbesondere New York und Boston. Alle Erhebungs- und Auswertungsschritte des beeindruckend umfangeichen und unterschiedlichen Datenmaterials sind klar und verständlich dargestellt.
