A book which chronicles the life and Prohibition-era times of this legendary songwriter and whose musicals pioneered a distinctive African-American musical theater on Broadway, but who has been almost forgotten. "The 1920s were thrilling years for Broadway and Tin Pan Alley. Uptown in Harlem…, talented musicians and composers were working to shed the image of minstrelsy and to find mainstream success within the structures of that particularly African American music known as jazz. The subject of this biography was lyricist for hundreds of songs, including 'Honeysuckle Rose' and 'Ain't Misbehavin'.' His contemporaries formed a Who''s Who of jazz greats, from Louis Armstrong to Razaf's most noted collaborator, Thomas 'Fats' Waller. Razaf brought a sensitivity and sophistication to his lyrics that ensure the timelessness of his best work. Añadir al carritoNo Binding. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is a rare pieces of sheet music, for Piano and Ukelele and/or Banjo. It is 'Perhaps', by Andy Razaf and Paul Denniker, published by Triangle Music in 1929. It was first recorded by Rudy Vallee that year. The ukulele arrangements are by May Singhi Breen. 4 pages of music, plus c…over and samples, 9 1/4 x 12 1/4. Aside from tiny wear marks at the edges, condition is superb. It is both frameable and usable. Paul Denniker was a pianist, singer and bandleader whose work became more famous when it was recorded by Miles Davis and Fats Waller, among other jazz greats. There is more known about Razaf, who wrote some of the greatest hits from the Tin Pan Alley era, including Ain't Misbehavin, Honeysuckle Rose, In the Mood, Stompin at the Savoy, The Joint is Jumpin etc. He died in 1930 and was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 1972.
