Butade, partendo dalla silhouette trac¬ciata dalla figlia, riproduce con la creta il volto dell'uomo ormai lontano. L'interpretazione condivisa di questo racconto, che ha avuto un certo successo a partire dal Rinascimento ma soprattutto tra gli artisti neoclas¬sici minori di area francofona, è la nascita della pittura. Ed è significativo che questa esperienza arcaica di arte, nasca da un disegno prodotto tra¬mite un processo ottico, quindi da una immagine.
