Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 8vo, printed wrappers, 23pp. The author was distinguished in his writings, publishing ventures, California journalism, engineering for a while, and, eventually, in the annals of American Anglican church history, never, however, attaining a modicum of financial security. His notable sermons - the present being a typical example - tended to provoke controversy and debate, although his candid honesty and fairness in principle always served him well. An admirable profile appears in ANB 7: pp. 642-643. This, a Very Good copy.…

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book, a sermon delivered in 1864, eloquently argues that churches should remain separate from politics. The author, an esteemed clergyman, presents a compelling case against political preaching, citing the Bible and historical events to support his view. He emphasizes the eternal nature of the soul in contrast to the transient nature of earthly kingdoms and argues that the Church should focus on saving souls, not on influencing political outcomes. The author also cautions against the dangers of conflating the roles of Church and State, drawing parallels to the European history of religious conflict. Ultimately, this book offers a profound exploration of the relationship between religion and politics, advocating for their separation to preserve the integrity of both institutions and the well-being of society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
