Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age are widely considered to have been the major features of the Earth's climate over the past 1000 years. In this volume the issue of whether there really was a Medieval Warm Period, and if so, where and when, is addressed. The types of evidence examined include historical documents, tree rings, ice cores, glacial-geological records, borehole temperature, paleoecological data and records of solar receipts inferred from cosmogenic isotopes. Growth in the availability of several of these types of data in recent years, and technical advances in their derivation and use, warrant this state-of-the-art re-examination of Medieval Warm Period. The book will be of value to all those with an interest in the natural variability of the climate system, for example those concerned with anticipating and detecting anthropogenic climate change.…

The Dorsetculture (also called the Dorset Tradition) was a Paleo-Eskimo culture(500 BCE - 1500 CE) that preceded the Inuit culture in Arctic NorthAmerica. It has been defined as having four phases, with distincttechnology related to the people's hunting and tool making. They madedistinctive triangular end-blades, soapstone lamps, and burins. TheDorset were identified as a separate culture in 1925. Archeology hasbeen critical to adding to knowledge about them, as the Dorset wereessentially extinct by 1500. They had difficulty adapting to theMedieval Warm Period and were later displaced by the Thule, who migratedeast from present-day Alaska. But, a small, isolated community of Dorsetculture people known as the Sadlermiut survived until 1902-1903 atHudson Bay on Coats, Walrus, and Southampton islands. DNA testing hasconfirmed the people were directly related to Dorset culture.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articlesavailable from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Banu Hilalwere a confederation of Bedouin tribes that migrated from Upper Egyptinto North Africa in the 11th century, having been sent by the Fatimidsto punish the Zirids for abandoning Shiism. Other authors suggest thatthe tribes left the grasslands on the upper Nile because ofenvironmental degradation accompanying the Medieval Warm Period. TheBanu Hilal quickly defeated the Zirids and deeply weakened theneighboring Hammadids. Their influx was a major factor in the linguisticand cultural Arabization of the Maghreb, and in the spread of nomadismin areas where agriculture had previously been dominant. Ibn Khaldunnoted that the lands ravaged by Banu Hilal invaders had becomecompletely arid desert. They were led by Abu Zayd al-Hilali. Their storyis recounted in fictionalized form in Taghribat Bani Hilal. Their 'saga'is still recounted in form of poetry in Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt:Djezia and Dhieb bin Ghanim opposed to the Zenati Khalifa.…
