In the present Small Wind Turbine system, the blades are directly coupled to the generator casing. The hub acts as the interface between the rotor blades of a wind turbine system (WTS) and the rotating outer casing of the generator. It is therefore a very critical component of the WTS as it transfers the severe aerodynamic, gravitational and inertial loads acting on the rotor system. A detailed design of the hub has been carried out. The design loads have been quantified based on guidelines of IEC 61400-2. Conceptual design has been carried out and a casting model using AUTOCAD INVENTOR modelling software. Detailed designs for the respective hubs have been carried out. FEM analysis of both the proposed hub models have been done using Finite Element modelling tool HYPERMESH and NASTRAN solver. 60 pp. Englisch.
