To investigate the presence of any pesticide residues in the maternal milk; we have examined 135 milk samples from 45 mothers in Karachi, Pakistan. Among ten (10) pesticide residues investigated, only cypermethrin, permethrin, malathion, deltamethrin, and match were detected. Deltamethrin was present at the highest concentration followed by cypermethrin. These are alarming results and may have an undesired effect on newborn's health; however, further research is required in vulnerable populations who are more exposed to this contamination.
