These parasites mainly affect their flesh, skin and fat bodies. Present investigation includes the effect of these parasites on different biochemical parameters of different tissues including glucose, protein, amylase, lipase, alkaline phosphatase and cholinesterase activities and also nucleic acid level of Uromastix for the first time in Pakistan. In this study, its observed that nematodes decreases the DNA rather than other tissues, because nematode parasites present only in intestine of Uromastix but all associated organs of gastrointestinal tract also studied due to their high motility. Histological observations of intestine revealed, hyperplasia, necrosis granulomatous lesion and infiltration of eosinophils, which is represented by photomicrographs. It provides a range of benefits for development, immunity, and growth. However, there is a possibility of contamination of maternal milk due to heavy use of pesticides in agriculture. To investigate the presence of any pesticide residues in the maternal milk; we have examined 135 milk samples from 45 mothers in Karachi, Pakistan. Among ten (10) pesticide residues investigated, only cypermethrin, permethrin, malathion, deltamethrin, and match were detected. Deltamethrin was present at the highest concentration followed by cypermethrin. These are alarming results and may have an undesired effect on newborn's health; however, further research is required in vulnerable populations who are more exposed to this contamination. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Adults of Rhyzopertha dominica were treated by filter paper impregnation method with five doses of pesticides of different groups such as cypermethrin, lorsban, Acorus calamus extract, trend and shogun, and LC50 was calculated. Biochemical analysis revealed that after treatment with LC50 of pesticides, cypermethrin inhibited 80% alkaline phosphatase activity, lorsban 44.17%, A. calamus extract 49.87%, trend 25% and shogun inhibited 20% activity as compared to control. Acid phosphatase activity was inhibited upto 42.8%, 11.12%, 14.25%, 28.62% and 33%, respectively. Similarly, cholinesterase activity was inhibited upto 60%, 20%, 33.33%, 50% and 59.2%, respectively. Total protein content was inhibited i.e., 29.27%, 20.49%, 20.49%, 64.76% and 41.19%, respectively. Thin layer chromatography of protein metabolites of R. dominica was found to be slightly different in the treated and non-treated insect and change in the protein peptide pattern was observed. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was also done for localization of protein bands in treated samples as compared to control. Total 177 blood samples from 59 persons (exposed to pesticide) were collected, to assay the pesticide residues in their blood and also observed the biochemical and hematological changes in the blood of affected persons. Such work has not been done on this aspect. So this is the first comprehensive work on this aspect. The main purpose of this study was to find the health risk due to pesticide exposure in the farm workers of different divisions of Sindh. Safety or minimum health risk is of prime importance for human beings. On the basis of this work farm workers had been advised to stop spraying for atleast 1-2 years or use of much less hazardous pesticides or alternate control practices, so that their health may improve and thus the importance of this work has been proved on the basis of experimental data. The two main species of Plasmodium i.e. P. vivax and P. falciparum are endemic in Pakistan. P. vivax is dominant over P. falciparum. Literature revealed that the prevalence of P. vivax in Pakistan is 74% while P. falciparum is 26% (WHO 2009). The present research estimated the intensity of Plasmodium infection in Korangi, Karachi to develop awareness and protective measures. One year data has been collected from hospitals and laboratories of Korangi Creek and examined. Total 481 infected slides were observed out of which 396 (82.3%) were P. vivax and 85 (17.6%) were P. falciparum. The infection ratio was 4.5:1. The infection % in Male is 59.25% while in female is 40.75%. The statistical analysis shows variation in mean and standard deviation of age, the mean age was 25. Infection incidence in age group 1-15 years 15.17%, in 16-40 years 81.28% and in 41-60 was 3.53%. It was concluded that incidence rate was high during the year especially of 16-40 years of age.
