Electrical Discharge Machining i…s a thermo-electric machining process, in which removal of material takes place through the process of discharge of controlled spark generated in interval between the tool electrode and work-piece material which are connected to positive and negative connection of generator and both are submerged in dielectric medium. The main goal of EDM users and manufactures is to achieve a better stability of the process, higher productivity and precision machining i.e. with desired accuracy and minimum surface damage. However, due to large number of process variables even a highly skilled operator with a state-of-the art EDM is rarely able to achieve the optimal performance. Therefore the need arises to reduce the cost and time of experimentation to find optimal setting of process parameters and allow the EDM operator to set them according to the customer's demand. 80 pp. Englisch.
