Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Vivian Ellerton-Staunton is back!In the second book of this three book series, Vivian is dealing with being a good wife, mother, daughter, and woman in a family that seems to not appreciate or want her around. Thinking life would be better after the birth of her daughter, Unique, Vivian is trying hard to be liked by the Staunton family and loved by her own family. Settling into motherhood is not as easy as she thought it would be with the families at each other's throats and Vivian caught in the middle. All she wants is family harmony but all she is receiving is family discord, stress, and strife.Coping with the drama is too much to bear and on her 21st birthday, she decides to end it all. Attempting suicide was not as easy as she thought it would be. When God refuses to let you die, what do you do then? Vivian must face the families she tried to escape once more and for what seems like for good. The Staunton's are leerier now to Vivian than ever before. When Anna Staunton helps Vivian realize that the only thing that matters is the family Vivian has created with Alex, Vivian gets a new sense of self worth. The family bickering has ceased for the moment, but the marriage is falling apart. Alex wants his freedom and is becoming abusive to Vivian. Not knowing what to do about this situation, Vivian has to decide if she loves Alex enough to stay. When Alex goes to jail for a few months, Vivian has time on her hands to rekindle an old flame with Taliek. Though Taliek is in prison also, the letters and phone calls are enough to keep the flames of desire going.Torn and devastated from being evicted, having an abortion, penniless, living back home with her mother Caddy, and her sanity quickly leaving her, Vivian must find a way to pull herself from this situation before it consumes her for good. Vivian's mother, Caddy, decides to help her daughter stand up to her husband and demands that Vivian take charge of Alex or Caddy will put the entire family out in the streets. Vivian confronts Alex, but Alex had already made up his mind that he was leaving Vivian for his new girlfriend. Devastated, Vivian picks up the pieces of her life and presses on. She finds an apartment, a new job, and Alex comes back. Her marriage is over, and she begins to learn to live on her own. During this frightening experience, Vivian meets several men that deposited something into her life. These men helped her come into her own and face those demons of loneliness, a failed marriage and life. Learning that promiscuity comes with a hefty price, some of the men in her life were just for the moment while others left a lasting impression. Each man had his own set of dysfunction and heartache but as long as Vivian did not have to go to bed alone at night, she was happy. As long as her children did not see the revolving door of men coming and going she was happy.Loving her single life, Vivian lives by one rule, "don't get too close" to any man but as she soon finds out, some men you just can't help getting close to.
