Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book unveils the rich history of papal libraries from their inception in the early centuries of the Church, charting their evolution and the role they have played in preserving invaluable religious texts and scholarly works. Beginning with the apostolic era, it delves into how the early popes established libraries to safeguard sacred writings, such as the Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, and the letters of early Christian leaders. The author then explores the contributions of key pontiffs, like Pope Nicholas V, who acquired a vast collection of Greek and Latin manuscripts through dedicated efforts and a network of scholars, scribes, and agents. The book highlights how popes through the centuries expanded and enriched these libraries, resulting in the creation of the renowned Vatican Library, renowned for its unparalleled collection of ancient texts and artifacts. Through patronage of scholarship, establishment of new libraries, and the collaboration of erudite individuals, the Catholic Church played a pivotal role in safeguarding and nurturing the intellectual heritage of antiquity. This book serves as a testament to the enduring importance of preserving written knowledge and the profound impact of the Church's efforts in safeguarding and transmitting the wisdom of the past. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Añadir al carritoRilegato. Condición: molto buono. prima edizione. RARA PRIMA EDIZIONE. LEGATURA COEVA IN MEZZA TELA CON PIATTI MARMORIZZATI E TITOLO E FREGI IN ORO AL DORSO. VOLUME IN 8°, pp.162. I giudizi erano dunque pregiudizi.
