ABOUT THE BOOK: The present book makes an attempt to examine representations of postcolonial India in four Booker Prize winning novels: Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children , Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things, Kiran Desai's The Inheritance of Loss and Aravind Adiga's The White Tiger. Awards and prizes are a quick and effective means of canonization. The Prize bestows instant credibility on a writer, and ensures high book sales. Such books also generate a large body of criticism. The Booker Prize novels foreground four aspects of postcolonial India that had hitherto not been represented in the Indian English novel. These aspects are the focus of the present book. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:Dr. Yakaiah Kathy teaches at the Department of English, Kakatiya University, Warangal. He obtained M.A, M. Phil and Ph. D from Kakatiya University. Having ten years of teaching experience, Dr Yakaiah teaches British literature and Indian writing in English at the postgraduate level. His areas of research include Indian fiction in English and postcolonial literature, and he has published extensively both in national and international peer reviewed journals. CONTENTS: Acknowledgements . 7 Preface . 9 Chapter 1 Situating PostColonialism in Indian Fiction English: A Critique . 13 Chapter 2 Indian Literature: An Introduction . 39 Chapter 3 Canon: The Role of the Booker . 55 Chapter 4 The Personal and the Public: History in Midnight's Children . 65 Chapter 5 'Death More Profitable than Life': A Critique of Caste, Patriarchy, Communism in the God of Small Things . 81 Chapter 6 'Distant Others': Immigrant Experience in the Inheritance of Loss. 101 Chapter 7 Representation of Modern India: Social Contexts in the White Tiger . 117 Chapter 8 Conclusion: Globalisation of Indian English Novel . 133 Select Bibliography . 139 Index . 167 The Title 'The Booker and the Postcolonial Indian Award Winning Novels written/authored/edited by Dr . This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -This book was an attempt to study the wave dispersion characteristics of a carbon nanorod through Second, Fourth, Sixth and Eighth orders nonlocal strain gradient models. Expressions are derived for both wave number and wave speeds of the nanorod. The wave characteristics of the nanorod obtained from the nonlocal strain gradient models are compared with the classical continuum model. From these models it is observed that sixth order strain gradient model gives the better approximations than the second and fourth order strain gradient models for dynamic analysis. The second and sixth order strain gradient models gives a critical wave number at a certain wave frequency which does not exist in fourth and eight order strain gradient models. Eringen's nonlocal theory of elasticity is applied to study the wave properties of single walled carbon nanotubes. The effects of wave number and nonlocal scaling parameter (e0a) on the frequency ,phase velocity and group velocity are discussed for a particular material of carbon nanotube. 64 pp. Englisch.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. This study analyzed intangible asset (IA) disclosure, trends, and value creation impact in ten Nifty Pharma companies (2015-21). Piramal Enterprises Ltd. led in both mandatory and voluntary disclosures. While most companies showed increasing IA values, their impact on value creation varied. Aurobindo Pharma and Glenmark showed significant IA impact on ROE, ROIC, Tobin's Q, and PB ratio, while Cadila, Divi's, and Dr. Reddy's saw impact on EVA. However, IA had no significant impact on firm value for Biocon, Cipla, Lupin, Piramal, and Sun Pharma in these specific metrics. Overall, IA significantly impacted profitability (ROA, ROE, ROIC, PAT) and firm value (Tobin's Q). Suggestions include improving disclosure for Cadila and Sun Pharma, boosting IA values for Divi's and Lupin, and continuing IA prioritization for Aurobindo and Glenmark to maximize stakeholder value. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
