Motive für maßgebend gehalten werden. Sie stellt zunächst die Behandlung der Frage in der scholastischen Theologie dar: In der Form eines eingehenden Kommentars zu. den relevanten Texten Thomas von Aquins. Sodann sucht sie die dogmatischen, fundamentaltheologischen und philosophischen Zusammenhänge namhaft zu machen: Die Korrespondenz zwischen einer streng theologisch gedachten, in der Form der Rechtfertigungslehre auftretenden Soteriologie und einer durch die Sünde motivierten Inkarnation einerseits; die Korrespondenz zwischen einer geschichtsphilosophischen, als Vollendungslehre auftretenden Soteriologie und einer metaphysischen Inkarnationstheorie anderseits. Dabei zeigt sich, dass die christologische Tradition im engen Sinn, also die Zweinaturenlehre mit ihren Implikationen, eine streng theologisch gedachte Anthropologie und Soteriologie besser tradiert; während die metaphysisch und geschichtsphilosophisch entworfenen Soteriologien und Anthropologien ihren Text, die Christologie, nicht auszulegen vermögen.
