He held the position of vice-president of the Royal Irish Academy from 1864 and was appointed Registrar of the Rolls Court in 1867.

Contains engraved title page; vi; 1152 printed pages of text with many full-page single-sided steel engravings throughout. Foxing to the end papers beyond which the text block and plates are without any foxing, rubbing to the high points of the boards, binding strong and tight and in Very Good clean and sound condition.
