The binding is clean and bright with strong gilt lettering to the spine and to the front board. Everything is square and tight, with only moderate wear, mainly to the spine tips. There is a thin scuff across the spine, but the cloth is undamaged. Please see associated images. This edition is often encountered with plates missing. This copy has been carefully collated, and all 65 plates, including the frontispiece, are present and undamaged. The folding map to the rear is also present, correctly folded, and undamaged. Other than a prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown, the contents are clean, with no inscriptions or other markings of any kind. All in all, an extremely attractive copy.
