Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - A paper mill. A glacier-fed canal. Ninety-one days. The deal collapses on a phone call, and Ira Bhandari is left standing in a dead paper mill on the Ganga canal at Jwalapur with a broker's fee she guaranteed personally and nothing to show for it.Then she puts her hand in the water. It is eleven point four degrees. It came off a glacier last week. And it is the reason twelve people in a shed can do what everybody says takes four hundred. They build it in the Uttarakhand foothills because the power is cheap and the cooling is free. They win the largest compute allocation their country has ever made. They train six hundred and ten billion parameters for ninety-one days without stopping, through a routing failure on day six, a straggler nobody can find, a monsoon flood that puts a man under water for four minutes, and a loss curve that will not come back.On a cold December morning they give the weights away for nothing and reset the price of intelligence on three continents before lunch. Then a forensic researcher in Zurich publishes six tests. Five of them clear ValueQue completely. One of them does not. They have ninety-six hours to prove they built it.And in a queue that nobody read, on a night that nobody remembers, there is a single row with an empty box in it and Ira Bhandari's initials beside it.The Haridwar Run is a thriller about the engineering, the money and the evidence. The tokenizer decision that halves the cost of a language. The cache arithmetic that turns a long context window from a demonstration into a margin. The difference between a text box and a state machine, which is the whole difference between a company that has a problem and a company that does not.It is also a working manual disguised as a plot. Four appendices carry the numbers: the operating model, the capability blueprint, the ancestry battery, and the specification that ends up in a public trust because nobody can be allowed to own it.The arithmetic in this book is real. The company is not. From the author of The Blast Radius, The Price of a Decision, The Business Engineer and The Architecture of Trust.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Agents did not take engineering away from us. They exposed how much of engineering was never engineering.Kabir Anand becomes an engineer because of a bridge. His father inspected railway bridges for thirty-one years and told him once: a train crosses because a man put his name on a number.Kabir spends the next twenty years learning the opposite lesson. Pune, 2006, where a signed requirement document is scripture. A batch job that runs twice and debits four thousand customers. Bangalore, distributed systems, a growing reputation. Then Dubai, and eighteen months building the finest platform of his career, killed in a six-minute strategy review because nobody in the room, including him, had ever asked what the capability earned. Then a Thursday afternoon in 2024. He hands an AI agent a brief he had estimated at six weeks. By five that evening the machine has written, unprompted, the six lines of code whose absence had cost him that night in 2008.It has not taken my job. It has taken my alibi.THE BUSINESS ENGINEER follows one engineer from Software 1.0 to Software 3.0, from writing code to owning outcomes, and eventually out of the building entirely into a company that sells cleared shipments instead of software. It is a novel, and it is a working manual.Inside, illustrated with 46 original diagrams: - The three-layer model: Intent and Assurance stay human, Orchestration is shared with machines- The gate: why a capability needing 40 implementers needs 8 outcome owners, and what happens to the other 32- The Authority Clause: the four rights that must be granted in writing, or the title is a liability transfer- Why architecture is now a pricing decision, and what a twelvefold cost spread on one outcome looks like- Impostor syndrome as an evidence problem rather than a character problem, and the five moves that close the gap- Twelve mental models and ten principles, extracted for reuse- Where the senior engineers of 2036 come from, a question this book refuses to pretend is solvedFor software engineers, staff and principal engineers, engineering managers, CTOs, CIOs, and product leaders who suspect the ground has moved and want a map drawn by someone who was standing on it.Written in Dubai, the book takes its closing discipline from the city's own philosophy: say what you will do, do it, prove it, sign it.A work of fiction. The narrator, his colleagues, and every company in these pages are invented. Financial figures are illustrative and labelled as such in the Author's Note.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Most cold calls do not fail at the close. They fail in a window about as wide as a held breath. The industry has spent seventy years perfecting the middle of a conversation that almost never happens. This book is about the beginning: the first five seconds, where the listener decides not whether to buy, but what kind of thing you are.Drawing on Aristotle, cognitive psychology, conversation analysis, negotiation research and the recorded evidence of real prospecting calls, Vishal Mishra and Rahul Gupta argue that a cold call is not a pitch to be delivered. It is a line of credit, opened at zero, renewed every ten seconds by the other person, for reasons entirely their own.Inside: - Why the same sentence succeeds on Tuesday and fails on Wednesday- The five categories a listener sorts you into, four of which end the call- Why your strongest argument, delivered at second three, is noise with good grammar- What separates ethical curiosity from fear, envy and manufactured urgency- Why a hook is a loan, and how the interest is always collected- What a machine would have to understand to hold a conversation wellEvery claim is labelled by the kind of evidence behind it, so you can tell peer-reviewed research from field experience from philosophy. No invented statistics. No borrowed authority.Illustrated throughout with original frameworks and diagrams, this is a field manual for anyone whose work depends on earning a stranger's attention: sellers, founders, revenue leaders, and the engineers now trying to teach machines something humans have practised imperfectly for two thousand years. You came to learn cold calling. You will leave understanding conversation differently. …

Hardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. This book covers various aspects of heavy metal contamination in wastewater and its removal by microbial-based approaches. The heavy metal contamination in water is generally caused due to natural and anthropogenic activities. There are many industrial processes responsible for such a contamination, for example, leather tanning, coal washeries, agriculture activities, chrome plating and paint industries. The industrial effluent directly or indirectly discharges into water sources, and heavy metal containing wastewater decreases the quality of surface water and groundwater. The heavy metal contamination causes various types of health issues in human and other living organisms, including kidney and liver damage, heart failure, mental retardation, cancers, and skin and gastric problems. The high level of heavy metal concentration in the cell generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) which may cause damage to cell organelles.Due to their high toxicity, there is an urgent need to develop effective heavy metal removal method for wastewater treatment. There are several conventional methods available for the removal of heavy metal ions from contaminated sites. These methods have some disadvantages such as the generation of secondary toxic sludge and high operation cost. Hence, it is required to develop cost-effective and eco-friendly methods for decontamination. Microorganisms have tendency to accumulate heavy metal ions into their intracellular space and can grow in various high-stress environments, and microbial-based methods are considered as eco-friendly and cost-effective. Moreover, the integrated approach of wastewater treatment and utilization of microbial biomass for bioenergy production can be beneficial in terms of heavy metal bioremediation and zero waste generation. This book focuses on the heavy metal contamination, their toxicity and microbial methods for the removal of heavy metal ions from contaminated sites. This book covers various aspects of heavy metal contamination in wastewater and its removal by microbial-based approaches.
