Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -Across the US and Europe, right-wing populists, extremists, and radical conservatives forge powerful transnational networks in order to drive their ideologies across borders. Their goal is to undermine Western democracies and impose an authoritarian, anti-liberal, and hostile agenda. Thomas Greven demonstrates how these international networks systematically disseminate their ideas - such as the concepts of »true people« and forced »remigration« - into the mainstream or how they organize a global fight against »the elites«. This is how conspiracy theories like the »Great Replacement« are propagated across transatlantic and European networks.Using highly effective and technologically refined communication strategies, the radical right continually shifts the boundaries of what can be said and done further from the political center to the right. Their success is particularly evident in the fact that the »firewall« of traditional conservative parties is crumbling and radicalized conservatives are adopting the rhetoric and policies of extremists. To counter this frontal attack of »right-wing internationalism« entering liberal societies, democratic forces must also expand their transnational networking, share strategies, and organize collaborative actions. 280 pp. Englisch. …

Taschenbuch. 296 pp. Deutsch.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - In his comprehensive study of the politics of international labor rights in the United States, Thomas Greven offers a concise analysis of the genesis of a viable policy alternative to the dominant free trade paradigm in U.S. foreign economic policy. The conceptual and coalition-building efforts of labor rights advocates, and particularly the critical learning processes within the U.S. labor movement, are at the center of analysis. Both theoretically and empirically, Greven breaks new ground by applying neo-Gramscian hegemony theory to an investigation of the career of a policy concept - the linkage of trade and fundamental labor rights - in U.S. trade policy discourse. This allows him to focus on the question of whether labor rights advocates altered the parameters of the debate beyond the traditional dichotomy of free trade and protectionism. Through careful analysis of discursive processes of interest-formation, without neglect of their material and institutional foundations, Greven can show how labor rights advocates successfully placed international labor rights on the U.S. trade policy agenda and how their policy proposals came to be key elements of globalization critique as well as of an evolving alternative.…
