Therefore, theoretical and practical insights in the subject of culture, its implicit and explicit differences, as well as its measurements will be provided. Due to the fact that communication - as a major cultural attribute - is the most obvious level on which cultural differences are recognized, insights in the topic of cross-cultural and intercultural communication will be given. A thorough discussion of the concept of culture and communication is beyond the scope of this paper, but in what follows, an adequate overview of recognized and well-known researchers' theories and findings will be provided. Besides giving theoretical background knowledge, it will be examined whether the internationally defined soft skills of intercultural competence can be seen as an approach towards a universal interculture, likewise a universal communication. The topic of the present thesis will be illustrated by a case study, as well as researched and evaluated by a field study conducted at one of the most culturally diverse organization - the United Nations. Findings should only expose tendencies to confirm or disprove previous research findings in the field of cross-cultural comparative research and intercultural communication. It is not intended to present new empirical findings.

Die vorliegende Arbeit knüpft genau an diese Diskussion an und untersucht den unternehmerischen Umgang mit dem arbeitsmarktpolitischen Instrument der Arbeitnehmerüberlassung und der sich daraus ergebenden Schutzbedürftigkeit der Leiharbeitnehmer.Insgesamt ist der Einsatz von Leiharbeitnehmern für viele Unternehmen ein wichtiges arbeitsmarktpolitisches Instrument geworden, um flexibel auf Nachfragespitzen oder Auftragsflauten reagieren zu können. Das Modell Arbeitnehmerüberlassung ist für die Dynamik des Arbeitsmarktes von wesentlicher Bedeutung geworden, denn es bietet vor allem arbeitslosen Bürgern eine Chance auf ein sozial abgesichertes Beschäftigungsverhältnis: Auch eine Arbeitnehmerüberlassung verschafft in der Regel volle sozialversicherungspflichtige Beschäftigungsverhältnisse und gibt Perspektiven. Ein Großteil der Leiharbeitnehmer wechselt anschließend in ein, wenn auch nur mittelfristiges, aber dennoch festes Arbeitsverhältnis.Am Modell der Arbeitnehmerüberlassung bedienen sich mittlerweile nahezu alle Branchen - von Banken, Handwerks- und Handelsunternehmen über medizinische und soziale Einrichtungen wie Krankenhäuser und Altenheime. So kam es, dass derzeit in Deutschland mehr als eine Million Leiharbeitnehmer beschäftigt sind. Zwischen 2003 und 2008 war fast jedes zehnte neu entstandene sozialversicherungspflichtige Beschäftigungsverhältnis ein Leiharbeitsverhältnis. Bei der öffentlichen Diskussion um die Frage 'Arbeitnehmerüberlassung - Chance oder Missbrauch' wird häufig kritisch auf die Motive sowohl der Verleiher als auch der Entleiher von Arbeitnehmern geschaut.
