Alexa Stiller ents…chlüsselt die komplexe Politik des Reichskommissars für die Festigung deutschen Volkstums (RKF), Heinrich Himmler, und seines ausgedehnten RKF-Apparates. Die völkische Politik basierte auf den sich ergänzenden Praktiken der Vertreibung und Beraubung der »unerwünschten« Bevölkerungsgruppen und der Eindeutschung und Siedlung »erwünschter« Gruppen. Die Zeithistorikerin untersucht erstmals umfassend und vergleichend diese Politik des NS-Regimes für die annektierten Gebiete Westpolen, Elsass, Lothringen und Slowenien. Auf Grundlage einer breiten Quellenauswertung (aus zwei Dutzend Archiven in sechs verschiedenen Ländern) und anhand neu aufgefundener Dokumente entwickelt Alexa Stiller Perspektiven und theoretische Konzepte, die die Mobilisierung und Beteiligung der deutschen und österreichischen Gesellschaft an der völkischen Politik in den Jahren 1939 bis 1945 auf überraschend neue Weise erklären. Der Band bietet eine detaillierte Untersuchung der einzelnen politischen Felder der völkischen Politik: Erstens der Siedlungspolitik des RKF, zu der auch die Raum- und Siedlungsplanung und im Weiteren auch die zuvor erfolgten Umsiedlungen der »volksdeutschen« Gruppen gehörten; dieses Feld wird hier als Kern der völkischen Politik des RKF betrachtet. Zweitens die Vertreibungspolitik. Sie stand mit der Siedlungspolitik in einem inhärenten Zusammenhang. Inwieweit auch die Vernichtungspolitik dazugehörte, gilt es in dieser Studie zu analysieren. Drittens die Eindeutschungspolitik. Methodisch untersucht diese Studie sowohl die Zielsetzung und Planung als auch die Praxis dieser drei politischen Felder der völkischen Politik, wobei die Analyse der Praktiken der Exklusion und Inklusion der Schwerpunkt ist. Die Praktiken des RKF werden dabei im Kontext der Praktiken anderer Akteur*innen in den drei politischen Feldern betrachtet. Die völkische Politik und die Einflusssphären des RKF sollen vergleichend für die drei annektierten Gebieten Polens, Frankreichs und Sloweniens untersucht werden. Die Zeithistorikerin untersucht erstmals umfassend und vergleichend diese Politik des NS-Regimes für die annektierten Gebiete Westpolen, Elsass, Lothringen und Slowenien.Auf Grundlage einer breiten Quellenauswertung (aus zwei Dutzend Archiven in sechs verschiedenen Ländern) und anhand neu aufgefundener Dokumente entwickelt Alexa Stiller Perspektiven und theoretische Konzepte, die die Mobilisierung und Beteiligung der deutschen und österreichischen Gesellschaft an der völkischen Politik in den Jahren 1939 bis 1945 auf überraschend neue Weise erklären.Die Arbeit wurde ausgezeichnet mit dem Herbert Steiner-Preis.
