Hardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. 1st Edition. Retrospective collection of the author's "Patrick Melrose" novels. One of the greatest literary achievements of our time. The First Complete Omnibus Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions, particularly the Softcover Edition. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only as part of Everyman's Library "Contemporary Classics Series". Re-presents, in an elegant collectible format, Edward St. Aubyn's Patrick Melrose novels: "Never Mind", Bad News", "Some Hope", Mother's Milk", and "At Last". "A work of glittering social comedy, profound emotional truth, and acute verbal wit. For Patrick Melrose, 'family' has always been a double-edged sword. Amid the social niceties and social horrors, Patrick begins to sense the prospect of release from the extremes of his childhood" (Publisher's blurb). St. Aubyn also deserves credit for insisting that literature is NOT a social event that people could carry out and discuss on social media, for example, as many aspiring writers now do, but an intense and private conversation between one intelligence (the writer) and another (the reader). "Our purest living prose stylist" (The Guardian). The basis of the "Patrick Melrose" television series, with a career-peak performance by Benedict Cumberbatch. An absolute "must-have" title for Edward St. Aubyn collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black ink-pen on the title page by Edward St. Aubyn. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is one of the great literary cycles of our time. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the First Complete Omnibus Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Copies of the individual volumes, particularly the first ones, as well as complete sets command many hundreds to thousands of dollars, rightly so. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed copy thus. One of the most brilliant novelists of our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER EDWARD ST. AUBYN TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 1101908521. Signed by Author(s).…
