Gottlob Schumann's study of Dr H. Gräfe's work on educational reform of German elementary schools with a history of the elementary school. It was intended as a handbook for teachers and school supervisors. Heinrich Gräfe or Graefe (1802-1868) was a headteacher and a professor of the science of education.
