Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. "Eternity is an unimaginably long time. Whether you spend it in hell or in heaven is undoubtedly the most important personal outcome of your life." - from On Going to HellThis is a book about going to hell. It can help a reader in three ways.First, it helps us explore whether we can be true followers of Jesus and at the same time support President Trump. We learn the answer first by turning to the Bible where we consider every passage in the Gospels where Jesus teaches us about God's judgment and hell. There we find the incredibly loving life which Jesus calls us to live. We see the consequences for what we do - and for what we fail to do. Then we compare what we have learned from Jesus with the record of President Trump's actions. Reflection questions at the end of each chapter help both individual readers and study groups. Second, it helps us compare the two life paths that Jesus shows us. One is the "broad, easy, road" that leads to hell. The other is the "narrow, difficult path" that leads to eternal life. Two chapters near the end directly compare what Jesus teaches us about the kinds of life goals, everyday feelings, and source of power that characterize each of these two possibilities.Third, On Going to Hell can provide a way to communicate with family members and friends where there is a lot of tension over Donald Trump. You may not be able to talk about our national life because things could get ugly fast. However, you can send them the book and just say, "Here's something I came across that I'd love you to consider." After they read a bit, it may open talk based on what the Bible says instead of conflicting personal opinions. You can explore the book together, rather than argue with each other. A reflective exploration of hell, judgment, and spiritual growth through Christian teachings and personal insights. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. This is a book about going to hell. If you are like me, ending up in hell is usually something you wish on others during your worst moments. If someone makes me mad enough, I have been known to wish that they will go to hell in revenge for whatever they did to aggravate me. It's small-minded, I know. But I take some comfort in the truth that I have no real power to send them anywhere. I get a moment of comic relief as I imagine their panic at roasting in the eternal flames, and then I forget about it and move on. Imagining them in hell helps me not need to stew about what happened. It's kind of a stress reliever, although I confess that it doesn't pass muster and please God. The prospect of hell is more than a stress reliever, however. As I grow older - I'm 79 - I am reflecting more seriously on what my life will amount to in God's eyes. How have I done as a person and as a pastor? What have I made of the tremendous gifts God's Spirit has bestowed on me? What will be the legacy I leave on earth, and what will I experience at the day of reckoning with the One who created me? These are truly serious questions to me right now. Indeed, they are questions I believe we all should ponder. Which brings me to the reason I am writing this book. Hell is a place most Christians believe in. (Gallup polls confirm this.) The certainty of God's judgment and the possibility that God, through Jesus, will send us to hell is a big point of emphasis in Jesus' teachings and is featured in other parts of the New Testament. As we all agree, hell is not the final destination anyone wants. A reflective exploration of hell, judgment, and spiritual growth through Christian teachings and personal insights.
