Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -Academic Paper from the year 2018 in the subject Learning materials - English, grade: A, Northern Arizona University (College of Arts and Letters), course: ENG 562, language: English, abstract: This paper will investigate the fact that even if Shakespeare did possess a great knowledge of classic rhetorical concepts, something that was a normal part of the literary studies during his lifetime; he did not follow the concepts precisely. Did Shakespeare create his own rhetoric His critical weapons in fact were the figures of language, which he used in a very effective and persuasive manner, such as personification, malapropism, metonymy, and rhetorical questioning, among others. Rhetoric after all is the art of effective use of language, which can be very persuasive, and, one must always keep in mind the reasons for its use and the goals it seeks to achieve. In order to illustrate the point of this paper, the following characters and works, will be looked at: Hamlet, Falstaff and prince Hal from 'Henry IV', and Dogberry from 'Much Ado About Nothing'.…

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2019 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: A, Northern Arizona University (College of Arts and Letters Nau), course: ENG 645, language: English, abstract: This essay is about how the psychiatric care for women is represented in 19th century English literature, with focus on the novel 'The Woman in White' (Willkie Collins). In order to properly identify the problematic evolving around the psychiatric care for women during the 19th century England. It is very important to explore socio-political factors and the actual mind set of the people in the Victorian era, their morals and values. Furthermore, how these so-called asylums emerged in a greater scale. Psychiatric care for women, exercised in the lunatic asylums, was not medically based, but influenced by social norms and beliefs. This matters also reflected in 19th century English literature. Themes involving the disposition of women in asylums were central to many of the sensational novels emerging during the 19th century. Among others Willkie Collins' novel 'The Woman in White' suggests another reason: thieving inheritance from women by abusing the lunacy law in England. The novel outlines very disturbing facts concerning the general treatment of women by society, where for a number of reasons, they could be easily disposed in asylums, labeled as mental patients.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2018 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, , language: English, abstract: This essay will observe how rationalism, logic, and scientific fact prevail against old-fashioned superstitions. Also, it will discuss how the background of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle helped to shape the character of Sherlock Holmes, and how the political situation in England was reflecting in the creation of such mastermind. Holmes is someone who does not believe in old fairy tales such as the existence of a hellish dog and a curse over the Baskervilles family. When Holmes is on the scene, logic is always present.Additionally, the birth of the Gothic literature will be examined. The impact that Conan Doyle had on society by creating the genius mind, the logic-based thinker, Sherlock Holmes, was to create the foundation not only for the modern crime scene investigations, but also a model for the modern detective novel. Influential facts such as educational background of the author, influential figures in his life, the publishing of the Darwinian theory, 'The Origins of Species', and phrenology studies done by the author strongly influenced the creation of Sherlock Holmes and his scientifically based genius mind, fighting against old- fashioned superstitious beliefs.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Essay from the year 2015 in the subject Cultural Studies - Miscellaneous, grade: A, Northern Arizona University (College of arts and letters), language: English, abstract: The statement of this essay is the following: Johann Sebastian Bach's music is his own religion. It does not matter where it is performed, because it turns every room into a church. His chords build actual cathedrals, and his compositions stream devotion to God and the Divine. Bach is the theologian among classical composers. He examined fundamental questions about life and death, human creation, and the Creator. Without a doubt, it takes a lifetime to be able to interpret and perform Bach's music, understand it, emotionally experience it, envision the divine and heaven, and to understand life, death, good, and evil as his music presents it. …
