Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - Gypsy Lore opens a window onto a world of wandering tales, practical charms and living custom, an evocative gypsy folklore collection that explores myths and beliefs at the crossroads of culture and survival. Stories that haunt and teach. A. Scott Macfie assembled testimony, description and comparative note in work representative of early 20th century studies, juxtaposing legends and superstitions with everyday practice so readers sense both origin and function. The result is neither mere anthology nor dry monograph; it moves between anecdote and analysis, offering material-rich glimpses of rituals, omens and the social habits that give them force. Framed within broader european folk traditions, the book also illuminates nomadic peoples history and the ways itinerant life shaped tale, taboo and technique. Written for inquiry and for wonder, its tone suits folklore enthusiasts, those engaged in romani cultural studies and readers drawn to the human detail of comparative folklore. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. More than a period curiosity, Gypsy Lore serves as an accessible anthropology reference book and a compact mirror of european social history, useful for students of classic gypsy studies, historians tracing migration and anyone mapping the circulation of myths and beliefs. Macfie's observational method rewards close reading: scholars find comparative threads, general readers find vivid lives and striking superstitions. The edition has been prepared to make navigation and reading straightforward while preserving the archival value that researchers expect. Librarians, historians and students of migration may treat it as a compact gateway into comparative approaches, and teachers can use selected passages as accessible examples in courses on european social history and romani cultural studies. Collectors of classic gypsy studies and period anthropology will value its combination of primary reportage and interpretive note. For casual readers and classic-literature collectors alike, this textured, humane volume belongs on shelves and in hands curious about the intersections of belief, mobility and community.…
