In the 1860s, George Farncomb Wright became his partner in the school; they dissolved their partnership for "the tuition of young gentlemen" in 1871. The Backwoods of Canada was by English author Catherine Parr Strickland Traill (1802-1899), who emigrated to Upper Canada with her husband and sister in 1832.
