Paperback. Condición: New. The global struggles against racism, capitalism, and patriarchy revealed by the Black and Indigenous women and trans communities leading its resistance. Feminicide and Global Accumulation brings us to the frontlines of an international movement of Black, Indigenous, popular, and mestiza women's organizations fighting against violence-interpersonal, state sanctioned, and economic-that is both endemic to the global economy and the contemporary devalued status of racialized women, trans, and gender non-conforming communities in the Global South. These struggles against racism, capitalism, and patriarchy show how crucially linked the land, water, and other resource extraction projects that crisscross the planet are to devaluing labor and nature and how central Black and Indigenous women and trans leadership is to its resistance. The book is based on the first ever International Forum on Feminicide among ethnicized and racialized groups-which brought together activists and researchers from Colombia, Guatemala, Italy, Brazil, Iran, Guinea Bissau, Bolivia, Canada, the U.S., Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, among other countries in the world to represent different social movements and share concrete stories, memories, experiences and knowledge of their struggles against racism, capitalism and patriarchy.Feminicide and Global Accumulation reflects, in a collective fabric, the communitarian and enraged struggles of women, trans, and gender non-conforming communities who commit themselves to the transformation of their communities by directly challenging the murder and assassination of women and violence in all its forms. …

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - There is widespread interest in intersectional approaches and voices of BIPOC on issues of violence in society. The contributors in this book are not just theorizing about gender-based violence but are also on the frontlines of organizing against it. Silvia Federici is a celebrated feminist, Marxist theorist and author of Caliban and the Witch, Revolution at Point Zero, Witches, Witch-Hunting, and Women among others. Black and Indigenous contributors in this book from across the world in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Passionately argues for the need to identify the emergency of violence against women as femicide, and locates an urgent analysis and the dynamic political responses in the women themselves. Brings a much-needed perspective from the Global South on questions of climate change, and links it centrally to the pervasive issues of violence facing women and gender non-conforming people. Brings together an understanding of race, class, gender, and sexuality in an analysis of capitalism through concrete and direct experiences. Brings much needed attention to the everyday forms of violence opposed by the international women's movement which made headlines with the hashtag #NiUnaMenos and #metoo. This book is geared toward several audiences. Feminists, women's groups, marxists, eco-socialist or other eco-activists, academics in social and ecological sciences, those with interest in issues of gender, development, and social movements in Latin America and the Global South; those with an interest in the global economy; advanced undergraduates. Taps into a growing desire to read and learn from the direct experience of BIPOC people and to understand the connections of struggles across borders. The conference that brought these authors together is already being cited in the literature. With editors and translators in the US we will have people readily available to speak on the book and with the growing use of remote video authors across the globe will also be able to support this collection.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This open access book discusses Micronutrient Malnutrition (MM) is a major obstacle to the development of human resources in developing nations in Asia and Africa and has been identified as a public health concern. Globally, more than 2 billion people suffer from MM. The most susceptible groups are women and young children under five. The main cause of the persistence of MM prevalence is the inaccessibility, unavailability, or high cost of diets rich in zinc. Typically, staple foods are poor in minerals. An inadequate intake of zinc (Zn) compromises human nutrition and immunological function. Breeding staple crops with enhanced critical nutrients offers a long-term solution for populations dependent on single staples or diets with less diversity. The significance of zinc in human nutrition, high throughput zinc phenotyping techniques, breeding product profile design, new varieties and germplasm that are rich in zinc, and the genetics and genomics of zinc are all covered in this book. For the first time, the publicly available standards (PAS) under the BSI standards for zinc crops were reviewed with an eye toward future global commercial production and commercialization. This edited volume will function as a scientific knowledge base and reference for researchers, graduate students, and other professionals in a comparable field. The goal is to enable biofortification science to help the poor world achieve food and nutrition security. …

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Special edition for Fendi, issued a year before the trade edition. Hardback in slipcase. 31 × 25.5cm, 264pp + 2 DVDs in pockets to the rear. The book is designed so the hardback cover binding is about a quarter shorter than the pages, leaving the top quarter exposed. A note to the copyright page reads "Can a Film Become a Book? Driven by Fendi's spirit of experimentation, we have tried to turn this film into an object made of paper. Not just a container of images nor a set prop, but a book that, thanks to its shape and structure, can describe both the film's world and its narrative. We identified in the cover of the book - a traditional one of reassuring proportions - the professor and his house, which together reluctantly host the family of Marchioness Brumonti, represented in the book by the block of text. An unusual family that was unabashedly trying to break away from the traditional canons of a country that in those years was undergoing radical change. Two elements - the cover and the block of text - between which no form of connection seems possible at first sight, but which in this film find harmony in the adroit storytelling of Maestro Visconti." A lavish volume celebrating the award-winning classic film Conversation Piece, featuring the costumes designed by Fendi and including an exclusive DVD with a newly restored version of the film plus extras. Conceived by Visconti as a critique of the jet set similar to Fellini's La Dolce Vita, the film features a star-studded international cast including Burt Lancaster, Silvana Mangano, and Helmut Berger. The book showcases the beautiful set designs from the movie and the costumes designed by Fendi, and chronicles how pleased Visconti was with the designs for the film. It includes important documents and behind-the-scenes information about the creation of Silvana Mangano's chic costumes and the appearance of Fendi furs in several key scenes. Features interviews with Bernardo Bertolucci, Liliana Cavani, Anna Fendi, Carla Fendi, Enrico Medioli, Piero Tosi, Henry Bacon, Caterina D'Amico, Luca Guadagnino, and Maurizio Porro. Condition: The book itself is in very good condition, though with a little sunning to the spine and light wear to the printed silver titling, there is a little creasing to the pages top corner of the exposed section. The slipcase also has some light rubbing, bumping and marking, and again with some light wear to the silver titling., but it has kept its integrity and protects the book well.…

Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -This open access book discusses Micronutrient Malnutrition (MM) is a major obstacle to the development of human resources in developing nations in Asia and Africa and has been identified as a public health concern. The goal is to enable biofortification science to help the poor world achieve food and nutrition security.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 196 pp. Englisch.…
